Men's Basketball Falls to Quincy in Final Road Game of the Regular Season

Quincy, Ill - The Lewis University men's basketball team fell against Quincy University 62-72 Thursday night.

IMPACT PLAYERS

For the Flyers, Ryan Hall (Kettering, Ohio/Kettering Fairmont) led in scoring with 26 points on 11-20 shooting. He also had the most shots attempted and made from anyone on either team. Cale Cosme (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) scored 11 points on 5-12 shooting, making him the only other Flyer to score double digits. He also led the team in rebounds and assists, with seven and nine respectively, bringing him near a triple double for the night.

For Quincy University, Tiernan Stynes led in scoring and rebounds with 20 and 10, giving him the double-double. Ethan Bolton and Camren Kincaid were the only other players to score double digits for Quincy, getting 19 and 15 respectively. Camren also led the team in assists with four.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Flyers opened the score just over a minute after the start of the game after a jumper by Mac Hagemaster (Frankfort, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) put the Flyers up, 2-0. Quincy was quick to strike back after getting a three pointer that saw them get the lead momentarily. Lewis took back over after Drew Fisher's (Los Angeles, Calif./Crespi Carmelite High School)attempt from long range was successful, starting the Flyers's first half lead.

The Flyers dominated the first half in style, having a lead as large as 11 points through dissimilar parts of the first half, including near the end with only 37 seconds to go. The strong offensive first half performance by the Flyers saw them make 15-28 from the field for a 53.6% total, and 6-11 from deep for a 54.5%.

Coming back from halftime break, the Flyers were looking to keep their comfortable lead and add a win to their record, as they opened the second half score in just 10 seconds after the successful two points from Hall. The Flyers showed a promising second half start, increasing their lead to as much as 14 points at the 16:24 mark.

Still, Quincy started to take over in scoring again, slowly making a comeback on the scoreboard. Quincy took the lead of the game for the second time, the first in the second half, with just 11 minutes to go. The Flyers couldn't catch up, and despite trailing by only four points with five minutes to go until the end of the game, they couldn't manage to regain control of the lead, losing 62-72.
