No. 15 Men's Volleyball Breaks Out the Brooms Against Northern Kentucky

Box Score Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 15 Lewis University men's volleyball team secured a 3-0 win against Northern Kentucky to secure their second consecutive sweep.

Assisting the duo was Diego Estrada (Ponce, Puerto Rico/Adianez) totaling 20 assists. Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School) didn't let anything hit the floor with 10 digs. The Flyers hitting percentage tonight was .288.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis and Northern Kentucky opened the first set trading points. NKU's strong swings built them a slight edge midway through the set. Lewis answered with a key service ace from Krueger-Beer and kills from Todorov and Haber to stay within reach. They battled back from a mid-set deficit, capitalizing on Norse's errors and used a late push to secure the 25-20 set victory.

The second set followed a similar pattern of both teams exchanging points early. Lewis created separation through service pressure and consistent connection between setter Estrada and outside Todorov. NKU fought back, trimming the lead and forcing a timeout late in the set.  Lewis maintained composure down the stretch, staying disciplined on defence and keeping a balanced offense to close out the 25-18 win and take a 2-0 advantage in the match.

In the third set, Norse still came out on fire. They jumped ahead early, but Lewis responded back with a steady offense to erase the deficit. A service run from Haber shifted the momentum back in favor of the Flyers, and strong net play, including blocks from Baggs and Todorov, limited NKU's opportunities. After a competitive back-and-forth stretch, Lewis pulled away late, finishing the set 25-15 to complete the straight set sweep.
