Box Score Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team fell to William Jewell College, 10-5 on Friday in the first of four games.
Lewis moved to 6-15 (1-4 GLVC) while the Cardinals shifted to 5-15 (1-4 GLVC).

Jackson Kottmeyer (Aurora, Ill/Kaneland) collected a loss while having pitched 3.1 innings and charged with 3 runs. Blake Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Plainfield South), Jimmy Spellman (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame College of Prep), Jayden Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.), Griffin Zweeres (Morris, Ill./Morris), and Chris Daugherty (Chicago, Ill/Brother Rice) all had one run scored and had one hit along with John Henry Russell (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South), Alex Chaltin (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook), Kyle Peterson (Orland Park, Ill/Carl Sandburg), Daniel O'Brien (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic), and Tylor Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Parkland CC).
Taylor Brenneman recorded a win for WIlliam Jewell while pitching 7 innings and allowing 4 earned runs. Luke Bies had three hits while Bronson Ryan, Maddox Meier, Austin Dahlberg, and Hayden Post all had two runs scored.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Luke Bies advanced to third on a wild pitch while Bronson Ryan scored on that same wild pitch making it 1-0 in the top of first inning. The second inning saw Austin Dahlberg homer making it 2-0. Lewis responded by Jimmy Spellman (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame College of Prep) scoring on a groundout by Kyle Peterson (Orland Park, Ill/Carl Sandburg). Chris Daugherty (Chicago, Ill/Brother Rice) also scored in the second on an error making it 2-2.
The fourth inning saw William Jewell score three unanswered runs allowing them to go up 5-2. Griffin Zweeres (Morris, Ill./Morris) homered in the fifth inning to cut the lead to 5-3. The sixth inning saw William Jewell score two runs before Kyle Peterson (Orland Park, Ill/Carl Sandburg) was able to hit a double and score Jayden Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.) to cut the lead to 7-4.
The seventh inning featured only one run scored by William Jewell to make it 8-4. The ninth inning saw William Jewell score two more runs to make it 10-4. Lewis responded with Constantine Coines (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South) hitting a sacrifice fly that scored the last run of the game by Blake Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Plainfield South) to make the final score 10-5 in William Jewell's favor.
