Women's Lacrosse Downs Findlay

Findlay, Ohio - The Lewis University women's lacrosse team beat Findlay, 13-6, at Armstrong Sports Complex behind Daniella Winterlik (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Terry Fox)'s four goals.

Lewis moved to 6-3 and Findlay dipped to 4-5 on the season.  

IMPACT PLAYERS
Daniella Winterlik (Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Terry Fox) led the game with four goals and had one assist along with Amelia Procyk (Coquitlam, BC, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) and Ryan Paterson (Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada/Pitt Meadows Secondary School). Charlie Dayman (Langley, BC, Canada/D W Poppy Secondary School) led the team in ground balls with three while Sophia Fountain (Berkeley, Ill./Montini Catholic High School) made 10 saves in the win.  

Rebecca Chmiel had 3 goals for Findlay and Sydney Zegar and Kendra Stevens had 4 ground balls. Caroline Weber and Josie Owens split time in goal and had 9 saves.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
Down 2-1 after the first quarter, Lewis came out hot in the second scoring back to back goals to make it 3-2. After a Oilers goal tied the contest, Lewis took off as they rattled off six unanswered goals with two coming from Winterlik making it 8-3. Findlay scored two unanswered goals back making it 8-5 but Procyk scored a goal just before time expired to send the red and white into the break with a 9-5 edge at halftime.  

Out of halftime, Findlay would strike first making the score 9-6. The third period ended but not before Lewis would score two making it 11-6 courtesy of goals from Procyk and Winterlik.

The fourth quarter saw Lewis score two unanswered goals to seal the 13-6 win.  

GAME NOTES

  • Winterlik tallied three-or-more goals for the fourth time this year
  • There was a total 34 ground balls 
  • Fountain had 10-or-more saves for the fourth time this year 


UP NEXT
The Flyers will take on the nationally ranked University of Indianapolis on Saturday, April 4 at 12pm at Lewis Stadium.
