Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University baseball team fell against Purdue Northwest 9-12 in game one and 3-4 in game two of their doubleheader at home.

GAME ONE
The game with the most action from either team saw Lewis fall by just three runs. PNW (5-5) started off the game strong, scoring nine of their 12 runs in the first three innings, with one in the first, and four in the second and third. Purdue's Brayden Brrett and Owen Winters scored half of the team's runs.

After a quiet first inning from Lewis (5-11), they managed to add three runs at the bottom of the second inning, which saw them shorten their distance from Purdue on the scoreboard, 5-3. Shortly after Jayden Gonzales walked to the right base,
Chris Daugherty's (Chicago, Ill/Brother Rice) hit went all the way over the outfield wall for a home run, scoring the first two runs of the day for the Flyers.
Griffin Zweeres (Morris, Ill./Morris) scored Lewis' third run after being positioned at third base.Â

Lewis scored their remaining runs at the bottom of the fifth inning, which tied the game at nine runs. Constantine Coins and
Alex Chaltin (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook) scored their only runs of the game after a hit from
Jayden Gonzalez (Chicago, Ill.) singled to right field, allowing them to run from third and second base respectively.
Jackson Hunley (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) scored the next run for the Flyers after advancing to third base from the previous play. With
Griffin Zweeres (Morris, Ill./Morris) and Gonzalez positioned at the bases, a home run by
Brian Twomey (Brookfield, Ill./Riverside Brookfield) saw the Flyers add their last three runs of the game, bringing the total score to 9-9 by the end of the fifth.
The visitors added one more run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh inning to seal the 12-9 win.

GAME TWO
 After a quiet first inning from both teams, the Pride took the lead of the game after runs from Tyler Blair and Braylon Holland in the second and third inning respectively.

Constantine Coins opened the score for the Flyers at the bottom of the fourth inning off a Peterson double.
Kyle Peterson (Orland Park, Ill/Carl Sandburg) followed that by scoring the Flyers' next run after being positioned at third base and making it home.

Both teams added one run in the fifth inning, with Braylon Holland scoring his second run of the game for the visitors.
Jimmy Spellman (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame College of Prep) advanced to home plate on a fielder's choice, adding to the scoreboard for the Flyers and tying the contest.
Tied 3-3, PNW escapsed Brennan Field with the win as Joey Guiliano homered over the left field wall for the go ahead run to seal the road win.

UP NEXT
The Lewis University baseball team will travel to Springfield, Missouri to face Drury University in a four-game series, with the first game set to start on Friday, March 13, with a start time of 5:00 p.m.Â
