Big Third Quarter Sends No. 10 Men’s Lacrosse Past William Jewell

Liberty, Mo. - The No. 10 Lewis University men's lacrosse team outscored William Jewell, 6-1, in the third quarter to pull away and win, 11-7, Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference men's lacrosse action.

With the win, the Flyers improved to 10-3 (3-1 GLVC) while the Cardinals dipped to 6-6 and remain winless in conference play.

IMPACT PLAYERS
The Flyers were led by three points apiece from Malikye Good (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic HS) and Kohl Wesner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield). Connor Williams (Lonsdale, Minn./New Prague) scooped up a game high seven ground balls while Braylon Ray (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) caused three turnovers. Caden Donahue (Hugo, Minnesota/Mahtomedi HS) made nine saves in the win.

Nethaniel Leroux led William Jewell with three goals while Isaac Kessler made 22 saves in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Down 3-2 late in the first half, the Flyers found an answer as Lance McCann (Elmhurst,Illinois/York Community HS) buried a ball into the back of the net to tie the game and send both sides into the locker room with the score tied at three.

Out of the break, the Flyers took over as the red and white rattled off three goals in less than four minutes to open up a 6-3 edge. McCann, Jake Wynecoop (Maple Valley, Wash./Tahoma) and Liam Forsyth (Webster, N.Y./Winchendon School) paced the early attack. Lewis never slowed down as they tacked on three more goals before the quarter ended to negate a late William Jewell tally and head to the fourth ahead, 9-4.

Despite two early goals from the hosts, Paul Ruskoski (Tulsa, Oklahoma/Bishop Kelley HS) tallied back-to-back goals in less than a minute midway through the quarter to put Lewis back ahead by five, 11-6, with just under ten minutes to play. Despite one more Cardinals goal, Lewis held on to win, 11-7.
