Lewis Explodes for 23 Runs in Dominant Win Over Trinity Christian

Romeoville, Ill. – The Lewis University baseball team delivered a dominant 23-5 victory over Trinity Christian College at Brennan Baseball Field.

GAME RECAP
Lewis broke things open early in the second inning with a six-run outburst. After loading the bases with a series of walks, Cole Clemens (Marco Island, Flo.) drove in two runs with a single before Jimmy Spellman (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame College of Prep) launched a grand slam to center field to give the Flyers a commanding lead.

The Flyers stayed aggressive in the third, adding three more runs. Clemens continued his strong day with an RBI double, while a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly from Spellman helped extend the lead to 9-0.

Lewis added two more runs in the fourth inning. Blake Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Plainfield South) delivered an RBI double and Israel Delgado (Machesney Park, Ill.) followed with an RBI single to push the advantage to 11-0.

The offense exploded again in the fifth inning with an eight-run frame. Multiple Flyers contributed, including RBI doubles from Tylor Phommachanhom (Plainfield, Ill/Parkland CC) and Delgado, along with run-scoring singles from Rowan Smyth (Evergreen Park, Ill./Evergreen Park) and Mario Prieto (Barlett, Ill./Barlett) to extend the lead to 19-0.

In the final two innings, a total of 8 runs were scored. Trinity Christian plated five runs in the sixth inning, but Lewis answered with three runs in the bottom half. Both teams were scoreless in the seventh to end the game.
