Romeoville, Ill. - The top seeded Lewis University men's lacrosse team punched their ticket to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship for the fourth consecutive year as they downed #4 seed UIndy, 12-8, Friday afternoon at Lewis Stadium.
With the win, the Flyers improved to 12-3 while the Greyhounds ended the year with an 8-6 record.Â
IMPACT PLAYERS
Kohl Wesner (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) led Lewis with four goals while
Malikye Good (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic HS) chipped in three points off two goals and an assist.
Dylan Kendrick (Chanhassen, Minnesota/Chanhassen HS) won a team-high seven face-offs and six ground balls with
Joe Janda (Livonia, Michigan/St. Mary's Preparatory HS) causing a game-high four turnovers to lead the defense.
Caden Donahue (Hugo, Minnesota/Mahtomedi HS) made 17 saves in the win.Â
UIndy had a different goalscorer for all eight goals in the loss. Tyler Bernarduci and TJ Reddington each had four ground balls while in net, Charlie Zak made 16 saves in the loss.Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Flyers were cleared for take-off from the opening whistle asÂ
Josh Schelfe (Pasadena, Md./Northeast) found the back of the net at the 13:54 mark to spark an early 3-0 run that forced a UIndy time-out at the 10:33 mark.

Lewis continued to attack the Greyhounds defense and found the net three more times to enter the second quarter with a 6-0 lead.Â
Both sides traded the first two goals of the new stanza, but a pair of late goals from UIndy's Dalton Yates and Keegan Laughlin made it a 7-3 contest after 30 minutes.Â
Out of the halftime break, the Greyhounds rattled off three of the first four goals of the third to trim the Lewis lead down to two, 8-6, with 5:15 to play. Still,
Nick Sheedy (Rosemount, Minnesota/Rosemount HS) fired a ball into the back of the visitors net with 4:09 remaining to spurn a short 3-0 spurt that pushed the Lewis lead back to five, 11-6.Â
Both sides traded the final three goals of the game with Lewis never relinquishing the lead to win, 12-8.Â
