Romeoville, Ill. – Lewis women's soccer fell to Cedarville, 1-0, in the first game of the 2026 season for both teams Thursday afternoon at Lewis Stadium.
IMPACT PLAYERS
Evania McCandless scored the lone goal of the contest, while Anna Taylor earned her first clean sheet of the season in the win.
Andrea Wie (Vadsoe, Norway/NTG Tromsoe) led the Flyers with four saves in her Lewis debut.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite multiple scoring attempts for both teams in the first half, neither side was able to find the back of the net.
Out of the halftime break, Wie made a key save in the 56th minute, while Cedarville also missed a penalty kick just before the hour mark, keeping the game scoreless.
In the 71st minute, McCandless found the back of the net to put Cedarville on the board.
Despite multiple attempts from the Flyers, Cedarville kept them at bay to win the season opener.
