Romeoville, Ill. — Lewis women's soccer ended the match-up against Quincy in a 0-0 draw on Wednesday evening. With the tie, Lewis moves to 2-4-1 overall (1-2-1 GLVC), while Quincy moves to 2-1-4 overall (2-0-2 GLVC).
IMPACT PLAYERS
Maggie Maher (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove),
Anna Linsler (Emmendingen, Germany), and
Caroline Hadler (Elk Grove Ill./Elk Grove HS) each recorded one shot for the Flyers, while
Jillian Barth (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) had five saves.
Rebecca Rheinheimer led Quincy with four shots, while Devin Tracy recorded two saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis and Quincy battled through a scoreless opening half, with both teams looking for an early breakthrough.
The Flyers recorded the first shot of the match in the 11th minute when Maher put an attempt on goal, but Tracy saved it to keep the match scoreless.
Quincy responded in the 15th minute as Rheinheimer fired a shot toward the Lewis goal, but Barth got a hand on the attempt to keep it out.
Neither side was able to break through before halftime, sending the teams into the break tied 0-0.
The defensive battle continued into the second half. Linsler recorded Lewis' final shot of the match, but her attempt was unable to find the back of the net.
Despite chances from both sides, neither team found a game-winning goal, and the match ended 0-0.
GAME NOTES
- Addie Gudaitis (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way West) played the full 90 minutes for Lewis.
- Today marked the 31st match-up between the Flyers and the Hawks.
- Last year's match also ended in a 0-0 tie.
