Bolivar, Mo. – Lewis women's soccer rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Southwest Baptist, 2-1, Saturday morning at SBU Soccer Field. With the victory, Lewis improved to 3-4-1 overall (2-2-1 GLVC), while Southwest Baptist fell to 2-5-1 overall (0-4-0 GLVC).
IMPACT PLAYERS
Maggie Maher (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) and Abbie Delong (O'Fallon, Mo./Incarnate Word Academy) each scored a goal for the Flyers, while Elliana Morris (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) and Talia Kaempf (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) each tallied an assist. Between the sticks, Jillian Barth (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) made two saves in the win.
Southwest Baptist goalkeeper Cece Alexander recorded three saves, while Jade Johnson scored the lone goal for the hosts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Southwest Baptist opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Johnson found the back of the net off an assist from Juana Fernandez Calvo.
The Flyers answered early in the second half as Delong scored off an assist from Morris in the 48th minute to even the match at 1-1.
Lewis continued to pressure the Bearcats throughout the second half, with Kaempf nearly putting the Flyers ahead in the 51st minute before the Bearcats saved her attempt. The Flyers continued creating opportunities throughout the half, recording 12 shots after halftime while holding Southwest Baptist to three.
Lewis finally broke through in the 83rd minute when Maher found the back of the net off an assist from Kaempf, giving the Flyers a 2-1 lead.
The Flyers' defense held Southwest Baptist without another goal over the final eight minutes to secure the comeback victory.

Lewis held a 17-5 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in shots on goal.

The Flyers recorded 10 corner kicks, compared to three for Southwest Baptist.
