Romeoville, Ill. – Lewis women's soccer came from behind to defeat Roosevelt 2-1 Wednesday evening at Lewis Stadium. With the result, Lewis moves to 1-2-0 overall, while Roosevelt falls to 0-1-2 overall.
IMPACT PLAYERS
Caroline Hadler (Elk Grove Ill./Elk Grove HS) and
Talia Kaempf (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) each scored a goal for the Flyers, with
Maggie Maher (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) and
Anna Linsler (Emmendingen, Germany) each recording an assist. Aaliyah Leanos scored Roosevelt's lone goal of the match.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Roosevelt got on the board first in the 17th minute when Leanos nailed one to the back of the net to give the Lakers a 1-0 lead.
Lewis responded in the 59th minute when Hadler scored off an assist from Maher to even the match at 1-1.
The Flyers took their first lead of the match in the 80th minute when Kaempf scored off an assist from Linsler to put Lewis ahead 2-1.
Lewis held off Roosevelt over the final 10 minutes to secure the 2-1 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Lewis outshot Roosevelt 18-6.
- Lewis recorded nine shots on goal, while Roosevelt had seven.
- Wednesday marked the third all-time meeting between Lewis and Roosevelt. The Flyers are now 2-0-1 against the Lakers, including a 3-2 victory in 2025 and a 1-1 draw in 2024.
