ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis men's soccer team came up short against Missouri St. Louis Wednesday (Sept. 23) at Lewis Stadium, falling 1-0. With the loss, Lewis moves to 2-5-1 (1-4-1 GLVC), and UMSL moves to 3-3-1 (2-2-1 GLVC).
IMPACT PLAYERS
Alejo Trejos (Montes de Oca, San Jose, Costa Rica/Lancaster Catholic) led the Flyers with four shots. In goal,
Matija Blazic (Obrenovac Beograd, Serbia/Gimnazija u Obrenovcu) had two saves.
For the Tritons, Brady Freeman had the only goal of the night. Goalkeeper Will Winlker made six saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UMSL struck early, scoring its only goal of the night in the 14th minute on a goal by Freeman, with a double assist from Mario Garcia and Nico Wingren. For the rest of the half, the Flyers had four shots, none of which found the back of the net. At the end of the first 45, the score remained 1-0.
Heading into the second half, the Flyers and Tritons traded possession. The Flyers tallied another nine shots in the second, none of which found the net. After a hard-fought game, the Tritons came out victorious, 1-0.
GAME NOTES
- A total of nine yellow cards were given out, five to Lewis and four to UMSL.
- Lewis had 13 shots while UMSL had 11.
- Lewis' record against UMSL now sits at 17-10.
