Former Grand Valley State standout Kathie Posa enters her first season as a graduate assistant coach for the Lewis Track and Field squads. She will work primarily with the Flyer throwing specialists.

Posa competed for the GVSU Track and Field team from 2003-08, where she was a three-time All-American. She garnered Indoor All-America honors in the weight throw in 2007 and 2008, while taking home outdoor All-America accolades in the hammer throw in 2008. She left GVSU as the school record holder in the weight throw with a toss of 18.46 meters. Posa was a member of the Dynasty Council in 2007 and 2008.

Upon her graduation from GVSU, Posa coached a pair of high school teams in 2010, as she mentored the throwing specialists for both Whitmore Lake in Whitmore Lake, Michigan and Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Posa is currently pursuing her bachelors degree of science and nursing in Lewis' accelerated program.
