  • Title
    Assistant Coach (3rd season)
Sterling Moss is in his second season as assistant track and field coach at Lewis University. His primary duties include coaching athletes in the sprints and relays, and he is involved in recruiting student athletes in the sprints.

Originally from the Bahamas, Moss has coached many athletes who have competed at the collegiate level. In addition, he has coached athletes who have represented the Bahamas at the Olympic Games, the World Junior Championships and the World Youth Championships.

Moss' expertise rests in the sprints. He was a conference champion and All-American in college and represented the Bahamas in international competitions in those events. He coached Bahamian sprint star Utica Edgecombe, who was a member of the 4x100m relay team that won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

In 2000, Moss was named coach of the Bahamas National Track and Field Team that participated at the World Junior Championships in Puerto Rico. He was selected in 1999 to coach the national team in Grenada and Barbados. Moss, a speech communication major with emphasis in radio and television, attended Loras College (Iowa) and graduated in 1987. He earned four varsity letters competing in the 100 and 200 meters and sprint relays. He still holds the school record of 10.54 in the 100 meters, and he was a member of the school-record holding 4x400-meter relay team that ran 3:15.48. Moss earned All-America honors in the 4x400-meter relay and was a three-time Iowa Conference Champion and national qualifier in the 60, 100 and 200 meters.

Moss' personal philosophy to coaching is to "train athletes to work on their weaknesses and help them turn their weaknesses into their strengths to become the total package." Moss resides in Bolingbrook.
