Former Saint Joseph's standout hurler Sara Somogyi has returned to the Great Lakes Valley Conference, as she has joined the Lewis University softball coaching staff.
A three-time All-GLVC selection and Saint Joseph's all-time leader in both wins (64) and strikeouts (1,071), Somogyi will work primarily with the Flyer pitching staff. She holds the NCAA Division II record with 21 strikeouts in a seven-inning game.
She spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach for Triton College in River Grove, Ill. and has served as a pitching instructor since 2003. She has served as the head coach of the Chicago Out Burst 16U squad since 2006.
Somogyi, who resides in Chicago, graduated in 2009 from Saint Joseph's with a degree in elementary and special education with a minor in psychology.
