Meshia Easley is in her second season as an assistant coach for the Lewis women's basketball program. She helped the Flyers win the 2010-11 GLVC Championship during her first season at Lewis.
Easley came to Lewis after spending last season at Spring Hill College. At SHC, she assisted with recruiting, worked with guards, and assisted with game preparation.
Easley, a native of Mobile, Ala., played at University of West Florida for three years after transferring from Spring Hill College following her freshman season. She finished her career with 75 steals and 192 assists. She was named to the All-Tournament Team of the West Florida Tip Off Classic. In 2007-08 she was selected to the Gulf South Conference All-Academic Honor Roll.
Easley was selected to Nike's So You Want To Be A Coach program in 2008. Following graduation, she was a guard on the USA Athletes International Team. She played two seasons of semi-pro basketball with the Gulf Coast Tropics of the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League in 2009 and 2010. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.
Easley has worked the Andy Landers Camp in Athens, Ga., University of North Alabama camp in Florence, Ala. and DePaul University camp in Chicago, Ill. At the camps she coached girls on the fundamentals of basketball.
She is a 2008 graduate of University of West Florida with a bachelor's in Communications, where she was twice named to the President Honor Roll. Easley is pursuing her MBA at Lewis with a concentration in accounting/marketing.
