Jake Walenga is entering his inaugural season as an assistant coach with the Lewis Men’s Volleyball team.
From 2014 to 2023, Walenga was a 15-18u coach at Ultimate Volleyball Club, with multiple players going on to compete in top NCAA collegiate programs across the country.
Walenga also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Lincoln-Way East in 2021 & 2022, in which the team reached the IHSA State Finals.
Prior to joining the staff, Jake was a member of Lewis Men’s Volleyball for 5 years, appearing in 122 matches from 2015 through 2019. In that time, Walenga participated in two NCAA Final-Fours, winning one MIVA regular season championship and one MIVA Tournament championship. Jake served as Team Captain for three years and was voted “Most Inspirational” by teammates twice.
Outside of indoor, Walenga has competed in the 2017 USA Volleyball Collegiate Beach Championships with Matt Yoshimoto.
Walenga graduated with bachelors degrees in Computer Science and Social Media Marketing. From 2017-2025, Jake worked as a Marketing Manager for an automotive aftermarket brand, producing award winning brand awareness campaigns and managing partnerships with car culture influencers and celebrities. Jake is from Frankfort, IL.
