After a decorated playing career at Lewis, John Davis returned to the sideline as a volunteer assistant coach for the Flyers in September 2026.

Davis began his coaching career at Sports Performance Volleyball in 2018. In his role, he traveled around the United States, leading multiple skill camps for athletes of all ages. On the sideline, Davis has coached boys' and girls' teams ranging from 12U to 18U, leading multiple teams to championships and medals across several divisions, including the Open Division at AAU Nationals. He has also mentored numerous athletes who have gone on to play at some of the top men's and women's volleyball programs across the country.

During his playing career, Davis competed at Division III Benedictine from 2018-20 before transferring to Lewis, where he played from 2021-24. With the Flyers, the Naperville, Ill., native appeared in 74 matches and recorded 311 career kills, including a career-high 23 against nationally ranked Hawai'i.

Davis was a member of the 2021 team that won the MIVA Regular Season Championship and MIVA Tournament Championship while making a Final Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament. A team captain in 2023 and 2024, Davis was voted the team's Most Improved Player in 2022, earned the Mr. Olympia Award from Coach Friend for his work in the weight room and received the Neil Carrey Award as the team's Unsung Hero in 2024. In the classroom, he was a four-time Academic All-MIVA selection.

Following his time at Lewis, Davis went on to play professionally overseas. This past year, he competed for OK Ribola Kaštela in the Croatian Super League, helping the team finish third during the regular season and playoffs.

Davis graduated from Lewis in 2024 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education, along with endorsements in teaching English as a second language and Learning Behavior Specialist 1.
