ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Junior Jason Ament won two races but the University of Chicago Maroons defeated the Flyers on Saturday afternoon at the Lewis Pool. The University of Chicago men won 153-101 while the women defeated Lewis 161-98.
Ament was first in the 200 free (1:45.50), beating teammate senior Greg Marx by one hundredth of a second. Ament also took home the 500 freestyle title (4:48.07).
Sophomore Kevin Coates won the 1650 yard freestyle (16:26.26). Junior Ryan Harrison won the 100 back (54.94).
Junior Adam Olszeski and Harrison took first and second in the 200 back with times of 1:58.06 and 1:59.72 respectively.
On the women’s side, junior Bridget Bettenhausen earned a victory in the 100 back (1:10.95). The Flyers took the top three spots in the women’s 50 free. Sophomore Stephanie Halcomb was first (25.51), freshman Ashley Kryger (26.04) and junior Nicole Marano (26.20) followed.
The women’s team of Halcomb, sophomore Allie Henges, Marano and Kryger won the 200 free relay (1:42.83) by almost two seconds.
The Flyers are back in the pool on Dec. 17 in a home meet with conference rival Ashland at 6 p.m.
