TAKE OFF: No. 15 Lewis hosts No. 7 Ohio State on Saturday in a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association match at 7 p.m.. The match will be aired live on Lakeshore Public Television. It will also be reaired on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. on Lakeshore.
THE LAST TIME WE MET: Lewis fell to Ohio State 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-17) earlier this season in Columbus. Senior
Brian Muesenfechter (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers) hit .444 with 11 kills and
Roberto Torres-Davis (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Benito) added 13 digs. Shawn Sangrey had 20 kills to pace the Buckeyes.
No. 600: Senior
Brian Muesenfechter (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers)reached the 600 kill plateau in the loss to Loyola on March 22. The St. Louis, Mo. native now has 627 kills in his career.
MORE ON MOOSE: Brian Muesenfechter (St. Louis, Mo./Christian Brothers)'s .965 career reception percentage is best for all Flyers since 2002.
BLOCKIN': Only four times this season in the MIVA has an individual recorded double-digit blocks.
Matt Gallik (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) has two of those performances. He had 11 vs. St. Francis (Jan. 28) and 10 against Ball State (Feb. 11).
MIVA TIME: Lewis finishes the season with five-straight MIVA matches while Saturday is Ohio State's final MIVA match of the year.
SCHEDULE REMINDER: The start of Lewis' final home match of the season on April 8th has been pushed up an hour to 6 p.m. It is also Senior Night.
ONE AND TWO: Ohio State and Lewis are ranked one-two in kills per set in the MIVA. The Buckeyes average 13.66 kills per set and the Flyers average 12.72.
ACE!: The Flyers have recorded atleast one ace in 82 consecutive matches. The last time Lewis failed to serve an ace in a match was the 2009 opener against Cal Baptist on Jan, 16.
HOME SWEET HOME: Lewis has won nine matches at Neil Carey Arena this season. A win over Ohio State would give the Flyers their fourth consecutive season with double-digit home victories.
IN FIVE: Lewis' two losses to Loyola have accounted for both of Lewis' five set losses this year. Lewis defeated Ball State, Long Beach State and Quincy in five to hold a 3-2 record in five set matches.
GALLIK TIME: Middle hitter
Matt Gallik (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) hit .706 with 13 kills and one error on 17 atttempts vs. Quincy on Friday. He is the second Flyer to hit above .700 in a match this year.
Aaron Flick (North Ridgeville, Ohio/St. Edward) was the first to do so, hitting .750 at King on Jan. 14.
ON THE RADAR: Lewis' next match is on Friday, April 8 against IPFW. Lewis then concludes the regular season with a pair of MIVA matches at Grand Canyon.
