Romeoville, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team played under the stars for the first time ever on Friday (Sept. 23) night, but no one shined as bright as sophomore forward
Cristhian Ramirez (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling/Emerald Coast United Academy).
The Wheeling, Ill., native collected a first-half hat-trick to propel the Flyers to the 8-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over Maryville at the MAC (Multi-Purpose Athletics Complex).
The eight scores is the most by a Flyer team since an 8-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on October 5, 2007. Ramirez's hat-trick is the first by a Flyer since
Armin Vrebac (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) did the deed in a 3-2 win over UW-Parkside on October 8, 2010.
"You couldn't have asked for a better night," Lewis head men's soccer coach
Evan Fiffles said. "From the lights, the fans, the pregame ceremony. It was good to finish with a win."
With the win, Lewis improves to 3-4 on the season and 3-2 in conference play, while the Saints drop to 2-5-1 on the campaign and 1-4 in GLVC action.
Along with Ramirez's hat trick in the first half, the Flyers received scores from

David Pyle (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) to assist on Ramirez's second goal in the first half.
Freshman
George Thomson (Kilmarnock, Scotland/Reid Kerr College) (Kilmarnock, Scotland/Reid Kerr College) posted a goal and two assists on the evening for the Flyers, while teammates
Robert McGowan (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) and
Ryan Turner (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport/Bradley) each chipped in a score.
Senior
Robens Decius (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Glades) (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Glades/East Central College) and freshman
Nick Miller (Chandler, Ariz./Perry) (Chandler, Ariz./Perry) each had an assist for the Flyers on Friday.
