Highland Heights, Ky. -
Lewis University head men's basketball coach Scott Trost knew that No. 9 Northern Kentucky was a lethal threat from long range, as the Norse averaged 10 trifectas-per-game, heading into their showdown on Saturday (Jan. 21) afternoon.

Northern Kentucky did not disappoint, as guards Jon Van Hoose, Tony Rack and Eshaunte Jones each knocked down four three-pointers, to lift the Norse to the 77-66 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the visiting Flyers at the Bank of Kentucky Center.

As a team, Northern Kentucky hit 15 three-point field goals and shot 51.7% (15-for-29) from beyond the arc. Van Hoose finished with 14 points, followed by 12 points apiece from Rack and Jones. NKU senior center DeAndre Nealy posted a game-high 17 points, seven blocks and six rebounds, while junior guard Ethan Faulkner chipped in 13 points in the victory.

With the win, Northern Kentucky improves to 15-2 overall and 7-2 in conference play, while the Flyers are now 11-6 on the campaign and 3-6 in GLVC action.

Lewis senior forward Justin Jarosz (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport) came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Flyer senior point guard Chris McClellan (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) (Buffalo Grove, Ill./Wheeling) connected for four three-pointers and finished with 14 points, while freshman guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) pitched in 11 points and a team-best six rebounds.

Northern Kentucky took a 42-35 lead into halftime and opened the second half with a 19-9 run to take a 61-44 lead with 10:48 remaining. During that stretch, NKU converted five of their 15 three-pointers during this stretch with Jones and Van Hoose each picking up a pair of trifectas.

Lewis, however, would not go away quietly as they went on a 20-3 run to cut NKU's lead to 68-64 with 4:38 left in the contest. Jarosz led the charge with eight points, including a pair of three-pointers.

That would be as close as Lewis would get, as NKU scored nine of the next 11 points to secure the win.

After committing a season-high 21 turnovers against Bellarmine on Thursday (Jan. 19) night, the Flyers responded with a season-low seven miscues against NKU on Saturday.

"We were right there," Trost said. "We couldn't have played any better, but NKU made shots tonight.

"I'm proud of our effort and the way we fought back tonight," Trost continued. "I walked out of that gym feeling pretty good about our team."

Lewis returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 26) night, as the Flyers welcome Indianapolis to Neil Carey Arena for a 7:45 p.m. tip-off.
