Lewis Men’s Swimming Defeats Lincoln, 122-92

The Flyers take the top two spots in four different events.

Lincoln, Ill. – The Lewis University men's swimming team defeated Lincoln College 122-92 on Friday (Nov. 9) at the Lincoln College Pool.
 
Sophomore Edwin Welsh (Madison, Miss./Galena) won the 1000-yard freestyle over teammates Cameron McPherson (Ocala, Fla./Trinity Catholic) and Brandon Drogemuller (Hollister, Calif./San Benito) with a time of 9:45.93. McPherson posted a time of 10:17.88 while Drogemuller finished in 11:27.42.
 
Drogemuller came back to win the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 4:57.89, while Welsh finished second with a time of 4:58.72.
 
Junior Derick Carlson (Norridge, Ill./St. Patrick) took first-place in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:45.01 while teammate Tyson Polack (Canby, Ore./Canby) finished second with a time of 1:51.02.
 
In the 100-yard butterfly, Alex Elston (Algonquin, Ill./Algonquin) won the event with a time of 53.32.
 
Freshman Bryan Wiener (Mundelein, Ill.) edged teammate Polack in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 52.05 while Polack tapped in at 56.71.

Lewis hosts Valparaiso on Saturday (Nov. 10) at Lewis Pool starting at 1 PM.
