Kearney, Neb. - The Lewis University men's tennis team set the tone early by sweeping doubles play on their way to the 7-2 non-conference upset victory over No. 27 Nebraska-Kearney in their first outdoor match of the spring season on Saturday (March 10) afternoon.
"I thought the guys did a great job overcoming the windy conditions and earning the big win over the No. 27 ranked team in the country," Lewis head men's tennis coach
Brett Bridel said.
The win is Lewis' sixth-straight and the Flyers are now 6-1 on the season. Nebraska-Kearney falls to 2-6 overall.

Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) and freshman
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallin, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) matched up at No. 1 doubles and felled Nebraska-Kearney's Josh Raymond and Yeswanth Nadella, 8-3. Lapimaa also defeated Raymond, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 1 singles.
At No. 2 doubles, Lewis freshman
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and senior
Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley) defeated Josh Smith and John Steinke, 8-4. Levandi also defeated Steinke, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3 singles, while Wojnarowski upended Revel Yehezekia, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
At No. 3 doubles, Lewis junior
Jesse Hardacre (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) and freshman
Isriz Balase (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg/Harper) dropped Yehezekia and Kyle Conzemius, 8-5. Hardacre also defeated Conzemius, 7-6, 6-3 at No. 5 singles.
Lewis is back in action on Sunday (March 11), as the Flyers take on Ohio Dominican at the Challenge Fitness Club in Lockport, Ill. The match will begin immediately following the women's match at 4 p.m.
