Big Rapids, Mich. - The Estonian trio of
Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese),
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) all won two matches to help the Lewis University men's tennis team edge Ferris State, 5-4, for their eighth-straight win at the FSU Racquet & Fitness Center on Tuesday (March 13) afternoon.
"That was a hard fought win over a tough Ferris State team," Lewis head men's tennis coach
Brett Bridel said. "It was a really good college match."
With the win, Lewis improves to 8-1 on the campaign, while Ferris State is now 5-4.
Lewis jumped out quickly in doubles play, as Lapimaa and Aunapuu claimed the 8-6 win over Steven Roberts and Laurent Galarneau at No. 1. Lapimaa also claimed the 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win over Galarneau at No. 1 singles, while Aunapuu was victorious over Roberts, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.
Levandi added the second doubles win for the Flyers at No. 2, as he and senior
Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley C.C.) defeated Jack Swan and Tyler Marengo, 8-6. Levandi later picked up the 6-2, 6-0 win over Swan at No. 2 singles.
Lewis returns to action on March 23rd, as the Flyers head to Kirksville, Mo., to square off with Truman State for a 1 p.m. first serve .
