No. 37 Lewis Men's Tennis Ends Season At NCAA Midwest Regional

The 2011-12 season has come to an end for the No. 37 Lewis University men's tennis team, as the Flyers dropped a 5-3 decision in a NCAA Division II Midwest Regional match, hosted by Drury University, against No. 46 Ferris State at the Cooper Tennis Complex on Monday (Apr. 30) afternoon.

With the win, Ferris State improves to 15-8 on the season and will take on Drury for the regional championship on Tuesday (May 1). Lewis ends its season with a record of 19-6.

The Flyers jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, as they won at both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Lewis senior Uno Lapimaa (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese) and freshman Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) paired up at No. 1 for the 8-6 win over Laurent Galarneau and Steven Roberts.

Lewis' No. 2 tandem of senior Michael Wojnarowski (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards) (Oak Lawn, Ill./Richards/Moraine Valley C.C.) and freshman Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) claimed the 8-5 win over Justin Hermes and Otto Keresztes. Levandi earned Lewis' only singles win at No. 3 with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Roberts.
