Romeoville, Ill. – The No. 9 Lewis University men's volleyball team put together a season-high .464 hitting percentage, earning 42 kills in 69 attempts with 10 errors in the three set (25-14, 25-16, 25-15) sweep of Lees-McRae on Thursday (March 28) at Neil Carey Arena.
The Flyers improve to 18-7 on the year as the Bobcats fall to 16-10 on the season.

Eric Fitterer (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) hit a career-high .564 with 10 putaways in two sets for his fourth-straight match with double-figure kills to lead the Flyers offense. Junior middle hitter
Yiwei Zhou (Nanjing, China/Nanjing No. 1) (Nanjing, China/Nanjing No. 1) earned 1.5 blocks of the team's seven total blocks. Redshirt junior setter
BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) picked up 24 assists in two sets of play.
“After last weekend, there were a few things we worked on in practice to get us into a better groove,” Lewis head men's volleyball coach
Dan Friend said. “I think the whole team did a great job tonight and this win will put us in to a good mindset to head into next week.”
Lewis jumped out of the gates swinging well, earning 15 kills on 22 attempts with only three errors for a .545 hitting percentage in the first set. Fitterer paced the Flyers with six kills while redshirt senior outside hitter
Jay Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) picked up two aces and two kills.
Keeping the momentum rolling into the second set to hit over .500, the Flyers were paced by redshirt sophomore outside hitter
Geoff Powell (Claremont, Calif./Claremont)'s (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) five kills, two block assists and one service ace. Fitterer chipped in four kills and an ace.
In the third set, Lewis held Lees-McRae to a -.087 hitting percentage (7 kills, 9 errors, 23 attempts). Sophomore outside hitter
Greg Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) (Downers Grove, Ill/Downers Grove North) picked up four kills and an ace to help the Flyers to a .300 hitting percentage (11 kills, 5 errors, 20 attempts).
Javier Jimenez led Lees-McRae with eight kills while Joshua Jones earned four block assists.
The Flyers close out their home schedule when No. 11 Ohio State comes to Neil Carey Arena on Thursday (April 4). First serve on Black Out Night is set for 7 PM.
