McKendree Edges No. 36 Lewis Men's Tennis, 5-4

Bearcats win final three singles matches to secure the victory.

McKendree University won the final three singles matches against the No. 36 Lewis University men's tennis team to rally for the 5-4 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over the visiting Flyers at Kings Point Sports Club on Friday (Apr. 12) afternoon.

With the win, McKendree improves to 13-2 overall and 4-1 in GLVC action, while the visiting Flyers fall to 6-5 on the campaign and 2-2 in conference play.

Lewis managed one victory in doubles action, as sophomores Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) claimed the 8-0 triumph at No. 1 over McKendree's Mortiz Kandt and Fevlin Janssen.

Aunapuu added a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 marathon win over Kandt at No. 2 singles, while Levandi earned the 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 come-from-behind win over Gabor Toth at No. 1 singles.

The Flyers earned their final victory of the afternoon at No. 3 singles, as sophomore Florian Etienne (Paris, France/Jean de la Fontaine) (Paris, France/Jean de la Fontaine/Shorter) dropped Janssen, 6-2, 6-0.

The Flyers return to action on Saturday (Apr. 13), as they head to Louisville to square off with Bellarmine for a 10 AM (ET) first serve.
