Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 9 Lewis University men's volleyball team will take on Grand Canyon in a Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association semifinal match-up on Wednesday (April 24) at Neil Carey Arena with first serve at 7 PM.

MIVA ALL-CONFERENCE - The Flyers were one of two schools to have four athletes named to All-Conference teams. Redshirt sophomore outside hitter Geoff Powell (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) and redshirt junior setter BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) were named to All-MIVA First Team. Redshirt senior outside hitter Jay Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and freshman middle blocker Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) earned second team accolades. 

LAST TIME OUT - Lewis wrapped up the season with losses at Ball State (3-1) and at IPFW (3-0). Despite the losses, the Flyers captured their second-straight MIVA regular season title and a first-round bye.

BIG BLOCKERS - Lewis middle hitters freshman Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) (1.43) is first while junior Yiwei Zhou (Nanjing, China/Nanjing No. 1) (1.23) is fifth against MIVA opponents in blocks-per-set. Walsh is 11th nationally with a 1.21 blocks-per-set average.

SERIES RECORDS - The Flyers have a 9-0 series lead.

IN THE NATIONAL RANKS - Lewis has been in the AVCA National Rankings for 47-straight weeks, dating back to Jan. 2011, when the 15th poll of the 2013 season came out on Monday (April 15). The last poll of the season will come out on May 7.

LAST TIME WE FACED OFF - Lewis won both matches at Grand Canyon to kick off the MIVA season Feb. 1 (3-1) and Feb. 3 (3-2). Sophomore opposite Eric Fitterer (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) paced the Flyers totaling 32 kills, while Jay Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) had 29 kills and BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) registered 85 assists over two matches. 

TO 1,000 KILLS & BEYOND - Redshirt senior outside hitter Jay Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) captured his 1,000th kill against George Mason on Jan. 26. He heads into tonight's match with 1,186 total kills which puts him 8th all-time. Jeff Soler (2002-05) is 7th with 1,250 total kills. 

SETTIN' STORM - Redshirt junior BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) is sitting in fourth with 3,278 total assists in Lewis program history. Current assistant coach and former Lewis setter Mike Iandolo is third with 3,389 total assists (2008-10).

HOME SWEET HOME - The Flyers have a 26-1 record when playing at Neil Carey Arena over the past two seasons, including two MIVA Tournament victories last season over Quincy and Loyola.
