Romeoville, Ill. - The No. 9 Lewis University men's volleyball team is hosting two Conference Carolinas squads this weekend at Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers first welcome the University of Mount Olive on Friday (Jan. 17) before taking on Erskine College on Saturday (Jan. 18). First serve for both matches is set for 7 PM.

Programs First Meeting – The Flyers match-up against the Erskine marks the first-ever contest between the squads.
MIVA Weekly Honors – Sophomore middle blocker
Bobby Walsh (Chicago, Ill./Mount Carmel) was named MIVA Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday (Jan. 14). In seven sets this past weekend, he averaged 1.86 blocks-per-set, including four solo blocks and nine block assists.
Leading the MIVA – Walsh leads the conference in total blocks (26) and a 1.73 block-per-set average. Outside hitters
Greg Petty (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) and Powell are first and second with 47 and 42 total kills, respectively in the MIVA. Libero
Lucas Yanez (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) tops the league with 35 total digs to average 2.33 digs-per-set.
Familiar Face - Mount Olive's head coach David Heller is a 2008 graduate of Lewis University. He served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Lewis Women's Volleyball program for four years, and helped the Men's Volleyball team for one season.
Theme Nights- On Friday (Jan. 17), the team will be available after the Lewis-Mount Olive match for autographs.
Fans can bring one non-perishable canned good or boxed food item and receive free admission to the Saturday (Jan. 18) match.
