UMSL Penalty Kick Is Difference In 1-0 Win Over Lewis Men's Soccer

Missouri-St. Louis junior midfielder Jon Huelsman provided all the scoring necessary, as he converted a penalty kick in the 62nd minute to give the host Tritons the 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Lewis University at the Lou Fusz Soccer Complex on Friday (Oct. 10) evening.

With the victory, UMSL improves to 8-2-1 overall and 7-2 in GLVC action, while the visiting Flyers fall to 6-3-2 on the campaign and 5-2-2 in conference play.

Huelsman accounted for all four of the Triton shots on goal, while the Flyers managed four shots on frame as well. Lewis outshot UMSL, 11-8, for the contest.

UMSL goalkeeper Nick Lenkman made three saves to earn the shutout, while Flyer netminder Omar Ramirez (Houston, Texas/Elsik) also notched three saves.

Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 12), as the Flyers head across town to square off with Maryville for a 2:30 PM first kick.
