Romeoville, Ill. -
Quincy University senior forward Jordan Roberts scored the game-winning goal in the 98th minute to push the No. 10 Hawks to the 2-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference overtime win over the Lewis University men's soccer team at Lewis Stadium on Friday (Oct. 17) night.

Roberts took a feed from sophomore midfielder Taylor Reis and beat Lewis goalkeeper Omar Ramirez (Houston, Texas/Elsik) to his right for his 14th score of the season.

"It doesn't matter if we took (Quincy) to overtime," Lewis head men's soccer coach Evan Fiffles said. "You have to continue to do the things that you had done in the previous 90 minutes. If you start doing stuff that's not in the character of the team, you're not going to get the result."

"Good teams will take advantage of things like that in overtime, and Quincy did that tonight."

With the win, Quincy remains undefeated at 13-0-1 overall and 10-0-1 in GLVC action, while the host Flyers drop to 7-4-2 on the campaign and 6-3-2 in conference play.

It was a closely matched contest, as both Lewis and Quincy had the equal number of shots (17) and shots on goal (8). Quincy goalkeeper Drew Duncan collected seven saves to earn the victory, while Ramirez made six stops.

Quincy got on the board early in the match, as sophomore Xhovani Dokaj collected his 11th goal of the season at the 5:28 mark. Redshirt freshman Michael Timmermann and redshirt senior Steve McAnany assisted on the play.

The Flyers evened the score up at 1-apiece in the 28th minute, as freshman Devon Amoo-Mensah (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central) posted his first collegiate goal. Amoo-Mensah perfectly placed a header shot past Duncan off of a beautiful crossing pass from junior defender Isaac Sutton (Carol Stream, Ill./St. Joseph).

Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 19), as the Flyers welcome Truman State to Lewis Stadium for a 12 PM first kick.
