Senior
Kim Vertin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Central) hit .440 with one error and 12 kills. Junior
Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) recorded a match-high 17 kills while adding two aces. They both benefited from the setting of senior
Leigh Barea (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek). She totaled 43 assists for an average of 14.33 assists per set. Barea earned assists on three straight points in a 5-0 run that helped Lewis rally from a 15-11 deficit in the first set. Davito's two aces made up the other two points of the 5-0 run.
The second set featured seven ties and three lead changes. The third set had nine ties and four lead changes. Both sets saw Lewis pull away midway through the frame. Davito had a kill on match point for Lewis.
The Flyers out-hit the Huskies .304 to .208. Michigan Tech had a 45-42 advantage in digs. Lewis'
Amy Choi (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) had a match-high 19 digs.
Lewis improves to 15-4. Michigan Tech falls to 8-11. The Flyers play Northern Michigan at 4 p.m.
