Romeoville, Ill. -  On a night when five seniors were honored before the game during Senior Night festivites, it was a junior who made the most noise for the Lewis women's soccer team on Friday (Oct. 24). Junior Maggie Moran (Arlington Heights, Ill./Rolling Meadows) recorded a goal and two assists to help the Flyers defeat Saint Joseph's 3-0 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference game at Lewis Stadium.

The win extends Lewis' unbeaten streak to three games and puts the Flyers in a tie for the eighth and final spot in the GLVC Tournament. Lewis, McKendree, Maryville and William Jewell are all tied for the final spot with two games left in the regular season.

With the victory, Lewis improves to 4-6-5 overall and 4-5-4 in GLVC action, while the visiting Pumas drop to 1-13-2 on the campaign and 0-11-2 in conference play.

Junior Lauren Grady (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) put the Flyers on the board first, as she beat Puma goalkeeper Melissa Kuhar with a chip into the upper right corner at the 38:49 mark. Moran and Daniella DiGioia (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) both assisted on the play.

Grady returned the favor to Moran, as she fed the Arlington Heights, Ill., native with a long run up the sidelines and beat Kuhar to her left in the 63rd minute to extend Lewis' advantage to 2-0.

Moran added another assist when her cross from the left side at 80:26 found sophomore Leah Manning (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg). Manning kicked on a bounce into the goal for her first career score.

Lewis goalkeeper Mara Bennett (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) made two saves to earn her fiffth shutout of the season, while Kuhar stopped three Lewis shots.

The Flyers out-shot the Pumas 23-4.

DiGioia, Bennett, Jennie Coughlon (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame), Susan Thomas (Algonquin, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) and Sarah Pawelko (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) were honored for Senior Night.

"We played very well tonight," Lewis head coach Chris Koenig said. "I was happy for our seniors to be able to have this be their final home game and to have a performance like that."

Lewis returns to action on Sunday (Oct. 26), as they head east to take on Indianapolis for a 12 PM ET first kick.
