Kim Vertin (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Central) recorded a match-high 16 kills. Junior
Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) hit .393 with 11 kills while senior setter
Leigh Barea (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) notched a career-high 11 kills and 38 assists. Lewis out-dug the Rangers 71-66, thanks to senior libero
Amy Choi (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills)'s 31 digs. She now owns 11 30-dig matches in her career.
After a first and third set finished with the minimum two-point difference, the Flyers won the fourth by eight points. The final set swung on a 5-0 run by Lewis to put the Flyers up 11-7. The Rangers were never closer than three points following Lewis' run.
The most important set of the match was the second. The Flyers were already training the match 1-0 and found themselves in an 18-18 tie in the second. However Lewis went on a 5-1 run to take control of the set. Vertin had a kill and a block assist in the run.
Lewis out-hit UW-Parkside .261 to .199.
UW-Parkside falls to 14-10 (7-7 GLVC). Lewis improves to 19-5 (11-3 GLVC). The Flyers play host Drury on Saturday at Neil Carey Arena. First serve is set for 5 p.m. Fans are encouraged to wear a costume for the evening's costume contest.
