LOUISVILLE, Ky. -
Lewis University middle hitters Morgan Cebula (Stevens Point, Wis./Stevens Point Area) and Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) accounted for 25 kills, as the Flyers extended their winning streak to seven matches with a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19) Great Lakes Valley Conference road victory over Bellarmine at Knights Hall on Friday (Oct. 3) evening.

Cebula had a match-high 14 kills, while Schneider converted 11 putaways. The middle hitter duo nearly had more kills than Bellarmine, as the Knights notched 28 in the match.

"Our team is great to coach because it's hard to predict who will have a good night," Lewis head women's volleyball coach Lorelee Smith said. "Tonight it was our middles."

Lewis senior libero Amy Choi (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) had a match-high 20 digs, while junior right side Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) had 10 digs. Lewis senior setter Leigh Barea (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) narrowly missed a double-double with 35 assists and nine digs.

With the win, Lewis improves to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in GLVC action, while the host Knights drop to 5-7 on the campaign and 2-6 in conference play.

Bellarmine freshman Bridget Guinane topped the Knights with seven kills.

Lewis had some friendly faces in the crowd as the Lewis cross country teams, who are running in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday, attended the match to cheer on the Flyers.

"A big thanks to the cross country team for coming out to support us," Smith said. "They really helped to lift the team."

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 4), as they travel to Evansville to square off with Southern Indiana for a 3 PM start.
