No. 17 Lewis Men's Basketball Seeks Fourth-Straight Win Against Ferris State On Saturday

Tip-off set for 3 PM at Jim Wink Arena.

The Lewis University men's basketball team looks to extend its winning streak to four games, as the Flyers (3-0) head to Big Rapids, Mich., for a 3 PM ET showdown against Ferris State (0-2) on Saturday (Nov. 22) afternoon.

ALL-TIME SERIES - Lewis holds an 11-4 advantage over the Bulldogs in their all-time series in the Division II era.

LAST TIME OUT - Lewis senior guards Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield), Jeff Jarosz (Lyons, Ill./Morton) and Gabe Williams (Chicago, Ill./Farragut) combined for 61 points in the 83-62 regional win over Saginaw Valley State on Thursday (Nov. 22) night.

NATIONALLY RANKED - Lewis is ranked No. 17 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) preseason poll.The next poll will be released on November 25th.

PROUD PROGRAM - Lewis is one of seven Division II schools in the country that has both their men's and women's basketball programs ranked in the Top 25. The Flyer women's team checked in at No. 9 in the USA TODAY Sports Division II Coaches Poll released on Tuesday (November 4).

DOUBLE-DOUBLE - Lewis senior forward Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) recorded eight of Lewis' 11 double-doubles in 2013-14.

TRIPLE THREAT - Jackson has led the Flyers in points, rebounds and assists in a single game, five times during his career.

THE LAST TIME - Lewis freshman guard Max Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) posted 20 points and 10 rebounds in the 91-62 win over Malone (Nov. 15). He is the first Flyer freshman to score at least 20 points in a game since Jackson did it as a rookie in 2011-12 He is also the first rookie to notch a double-double since his brother Marty Strus (2008-12) accomplished that feat in 2008.

GETTING TO THE LINE - Lewis is 9-0 over the past two seasons when Jackson gets to the free throw line at least 10 times.

SMOKIN' HOT - Lewis has won 32 of its last 40 contests dating back to the 2012-13 campaign for a winning percentage of .800. During that stretch, the Flyers have defeated five teams that were ranked in the NABC/Division II Men's Basketball Poll. The Flyers have won 43 games since the start of the 2012-13 campaign.

PRESEASON PICK - Jackson has received several preseason accolades including Preseason All-American (Basketball Times) and Preseason Honorable Mention All-American (Sporting News; Division II Bulletin).

RANKED SCHMANKED - Lewis has defeated at least one nationally-ranked Division II team in each of the last four seasons.

TOP 10 - Jackson needs 90 points to crack the All-Time Top 10 in Lewis career scoring.

300/150 CLUB - Lewis head coach Scott Trost needs three wins to reach 300 for his career and five victories to reach 150 as the Flyers' skipper.

1,000 ON THE HORIZON - Lewis needs 183 points to reach 1,000 for his career.

1,000/700 CLUB - Lewis needs 183 points and 145 rebounds to become the fourth Flyer in school history to notch at least 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in the Division II era.

WINNING WITH CLASS - Lewis' current senior class (2011) needs 15 wins to reach the most victories (75) by a Trost recruiting class, set by last year's seniors.

FROM WAY DOWNTOWN - Seven different Flyers have connected for at least two three pointers in Lewis' first three games this season.

FROM WAY DOWNTOWN (PART DEUX) - Lewis shot a scorching 68.8% (11-for-16) from three-point range in their win over Saginaw Valley on Thursday (Nov. 20). That was their best three-point performance since they drained 69.2% (9-for-13) of their attempts in a 69-67 win over Indianapolis on February 26, 2011.

FROM WAY DOWNTOWN (PART TROIS) - Lewis has hit at least 10 three-pointers in their last two games. The last time they accomplished that feat in three straight contests came during the 2004-05 campaign against UIS (10), Northern Kentucky (11) and Indianapolis (10).

WE'RE GOING STREAKING - Lewis has a 14-game winning streak against non-conference opponents, dating back to a 79-70 win over Cedarville on November 30, 2012.

DEEP BENCH - Lewis has nine players who are averaging at least 12.7 minutes-per-game this season.

EFFICIENT SHOOTING - Lewis has shot over 50% in each of its first three contests.

SIXTH MAN - Williams is averaging 12.3 points-per-game off the bench, shooting 59.1% (13-for-22) from the field, 66.7% (4-for-6) from three-point range and has 10 assists with only two turnovers in three contests.

TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK - Jackson, Jarosz and Williams have combined for 30 assists and seven turnovers in three games for an assist/turnover ratio of 4.3 to 1.

BENCH MOB - Lewis' bench is averaging 30.3 points in three contests and shooting 57.1% (32-for-56) from the field and 60.0% (12-for-20) from three-point range.

LESS IS MORE - The Flyers needed just 47 total field goal attempts to defeat Saginaw Valley State on Thursday (Nov. 20). Lewis is 10-3 (.769) since 2012 when taking less than 50 shots in a contest.
