LIBERTY, Mo. – Lewis women's swimming fell at Great Lakes Valley Conference member William Jewell on Thursday (Dec. 18) morning by a score of 116-89.
William Jewell's pool is a 25-meter pool so the events were in meters as opposed to yards like at the Lewis Pool.
The Flyers went 1-2-3 in the 50 meter freestyle. Senior
Cindy Jezuit (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) won (28.17) with sophomore
Kinsey Coble (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) (28.37) and junior
Mackenzie Kummer (Addison, Ill./Addison Trail) (29.32) behind Jezuit.
Sophomore
Sarah Cameron (Brownstone, Mich./Carlson) continued her solid season with a win in the 200 meters thanks to a performance of 2:12.65. She also won the 200 IM with a time of 2:27.20. Junior
Montana Clasby (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls) used a time of 1:18.40 in the 100 breaststroke to win the event.
"The women's had some really good races but we were outgunned by William Jewell's depth and incredible strength in the distance events," Lewis head coach
Roger Karns said. "I was pleased by some very courageous races but we couldn't get it done. Being touched out in four relays by a total of a second or so really hurts your chances."
