No. 3 Lewis women's basketball (5-0, 0-0 GLVC) opens Great Lakes Valley Conference play on Thursday (Dec. 4) at 5:30 p.m. CT when UW-Parkside (5-1, 0-0 GLVC) comes to Neil Carey Arena. The game can be viewed at LewisFlyers.com/watch and be heard on the radio on WJOL 1340 AM with Mark Vasko on the call on the Lewis Sports Network.

YIPPEE FOR THREE - Lewis' No. 3 national ranking is the Flyers' highest in program history. It matches the best ever ranking for a men's or women's basketball team at Lewis. The 1984-85 men's team earned the No. 3 ranking for consecutive weeks in January 1985.

FOR STARTERS - Lewis' 5-0 start is the best for a Lewis team since the 1997-98 squad earned the same start before falling in game six to Northern Kentucky. The same squad went on to win their next eight games after losing to NKU.

FOR STARTERS X2 - Lewis' longest unbeaten streak to start a season is owned by the 1996-97 team that went 7-0 to open the season.

ONLY THE LONELY - Lewis is the only undefeated team in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and one of 38 NCAA DII women's basketball squads without a loss.

VS. THE RANGERS - Lewis is 38-21 all-time against UW-Parkside. Lisa Carlsen is 7-10 against the Rangers as Lewis' head coach. The two clubs split their two meetings last season.

FOR OPENERS - Lewis head coach Lisa Carlsen is 7-0 in GLVC openers and 6-1 in GLVC home openers.

START EM UP - Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) has started all 62 games she has played in a Lewis uniform.

CLEANING THE GLASS - Junior Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) recorded 21 points and 22 rebounds in Lewis' 83-75 victory over Northwood on Nov. 15, 2014. Her 22 rebounds was one short of tying the Lewis program record for rebounds in a single game. Julie Fruendt holds the record with 23 boards against Valparaiso during the 1984-85 season.

BASKETBALL 101 - Lewis scored 101 points vs. Upper Iowa on Nov. 22. The last time Lewis scored 100 points in a non-overtime game was Dec. 16, 2003 when Lewis topped Saint Xavier (Ill.) 105-83.

1 vs. 5 - Lewis limited Upper Iowa to only five field goals in the second half on Nov. 22. Junior Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) recorded six field goals herself in the half. Lewis outscored the Peacocks 43-18 in the final 20 minutes.

MIRACLE MINUTE (AND A HALF) - Lewis trailed St. Edward's by six points with a little more than a minute and half remaining on Nov. 28. Lewis closed the game on an 11-3 run with Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) scoring nine of those points to help Lewis get the win.

DON'T HATE THE PLAYER (OF THE WEEK) - For her play against St. Edward's and Rollins, junior Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) was named the Rollins Tournament MVP and the GLVC Player of the week. She scored 32 against St. Edward's an 24 against Rollins.

SHE'S ON FIRE - Dating back to last season, over her last 19 games, Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) is averaging 20.9 points per game with nine games of 20 plus points.

ON THE BOARDS - Junior Mariyah Brawner-Henley (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) ranks first in the nation in defensive rebounds per game (12.0) and second in total rebounds (15.2).

KEEP IT - Lewis ranks sixth in the nation with an assist/turnover ratio of 1.57. Individually, Kristin Itschner (Metamora, Ill./Peoria Notre Dame) ranks 16th (3.20) and Nikki Nellen (New Berlin, Wis./Pius XI) ranks 21st (3.00) in the country. Nellen has recorded more than one turnover in just one contest this season when St. Edward's forced her to commit five.

SCORING POINTS - Lewis leads the league and ranks 13th in the nation in scoring with an average of 84.0 points per game. It is on pace to be head coach Lisa Carlsen's highest scoring team. Her first seven teams averaged 69.7 points per contest with last season's squad averaging a tenure-best 78.3 points per game.

FREE FOR A REASON - By the numbers, the two best free throw shooters in school history are on the roster. Entering the season, Jamie Johnson (South Holland, Ill./Marian Catholic) ranked first in career free throw percentage (.833/169-of-203) while Jess Reinhart (Normal, Ill./Bloomington Central Catholic) ranked second (.824/342-of-415). Reinhart ranks fourth of all active NCAA DII players for career free throw percentage as the stat requires 250 attempts.

D1 AND DONE - Lewis made history this year before the season even started by becoming the first non-DI school to defeat three DI teams in exhibitions. The Flyers topped Loyola-Chicago, Northern Illinois and Marquette.

ONLY ONE WIN NEEDED - Thanks to Lewis' season opening win over Saginaw Valley State, Lewis head coach Lisa Carlsen is now the program leader in wins. It was her 118th career win. She passed Brian Michalak's (1993-2002) career total of 117-126.

QUARTER OF A CENTURY - Lewis owns a 26-game home win streak. The streak is the second longest in the nation, only to Colorado Mesa's current 40-game streak. The Flyers' last loss came Nov. 24, 2012 to Central Missouri. Lewis lost that contest 84-77. Below is a look at all of Lewis' wins in the streak, with score and margin of victory. Of note, Lewis' average margin of victory in the streak is 15.0 points. The Flyers have won 21 of the 26 games by eight or more points, with 18 coming by double-digits. In GLVC play, Lewis owns a 20-game home GLVC win-streak dating back to the 2011-12 season. Lewis' last home GLVC loss came Feb. 2, 2012 to Northern Kentucky 63-61.
