Canton, Ohio - The Lewis University women's tennis team swept all three doubles matches on its way to the 6-2 regional victory over Walsh University at the Hall of Fame Courts on Friday (Feb. 14) afternoon.
WIth the win, Lewis improves to 2-1 on the campaign, while the host Cavaliers fall to 14-6 overall.
Lewis seniors
Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and
Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) got the ball rolling for the Flyers with an 8-3 victory over Sofya Logunova and Alona Skobkina at No. 1 doubles. Lanstiak handed Logunova a 6-3, 6-0 defeat at No. 1 singles, while Kranczicki upended Daria Bondareva, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2 singles.
At No. 2 doubles, Lewis freshman
Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) and sophomore
Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) earned the 8-5 triumph over Alisha Angle and Bondareva. Banic would chip in a 6-2, 6-3 win over Anastasiya Dasik at No. 3 singles.
The Flyers picked up their final victory at No. 3 doubles, as senior
Kendra Mills (Elmhurst, Ill./York) and sophomore
Jill Wetmore (Ottawa, Ill./Ottawa) paired up for the 8-6 win over Jaclyn DiDomenico and Dasik.
Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Feb. 15), as they head to Green, Ohio to meet Malone for a 5 PM ET first serve.
