Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium) won two matches, including her 100th career singles victory, to help the visiting Flyers upset No. 14 Fresno Pacific, 5-4, on Tuesday (March 4) afternoon.
With the win, Lewis improves to 4-2, while the Sunbirds fall to 2-4 on the campaign. Fresno Pacific is the highest ranked opponent that the Flyers have beaten during the tenure of head women's coach
Brett Bridel.
"It was a nice win for us today, but I'm very proud of how we responded from yesterday's disappointing performance (against Azusa Pacific)," Bridel said.
Kranczicki paired up with classmate
Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) for the 8-4 win over FPU's Petra Jurova and Angelika Sobiecka at No. 1 doubles. Kranczicki then claimed her 100th victory in singles action with the 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Alison Carre at No. 2 singles.
At No. 2 doubles, Lewis' tandem of sophomore
Megan Nguyen (Germantown Hills, Ill./Metamora) and freshman
Ana Banic (Skradin, Croatia/Gimnazija Antuna Vrancica) earned the 8-5 win over Fresno Pacific's Matilda Ackered and Laure-Anne Josso. Banic also beat Ackered, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.
The deciding match came down to No. 6 singles, where Flyer senior
Kendra Mills (Elmhurst, Ill./York) dropped Megan Lee, 6-1, 6-0.
Lewis returns to action on Thursday (March 6), as the Flyers head to San Diego to square off with Point Loma Nazarene at 4 PM.
