Springfield, Ill. -
Lewis University head men's tennis coach Brett Bridel shook up his line-up and it helped spur the Flyers to the 5-4 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Illinois Springfield at Washington Park on Friday (Apr. 4) afternoon.

Lewis freshman Mate Srdanovic (Split, Croatia/Graditeljsko-Geodetska Tehnicka) joined junior Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) at No. 1 doubles to pick up the 8-4 win over UIS' Jose Ortega and Ben Main. Flyer junior Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) dropped down to No. 2 doubles with senior Philip Kuenzi (Manitowoc, Wis./Roncalli) to claim the 8-4 triumph over Cale Buehnerkemper and Hayden Esker.

"The guys did a much better job in doubles today which helped us get the victory," Bridel said. "It feels good to get the 'W' after a couple of tough losses."

With the win, Lewis improves to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in conference play, while the host Prairie Stars are now 4-10 on the season and 0-3 in GLVC action.

Levandi added a 6-1, 6-3 win over Ortega at No. 1 singles, while Srdanovic bested Buehnerkemper, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2. Aunapuu whitewashed Esker, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.

Lewis returns to action on Saturday (Apr. 5), as they head to Louisville, Ky., to square off with Bellarmine for a 10 AM ET showdown.
