ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Senior Tom Logan (Kenmore, Wash./Bishop Blanchet) recorded a career-high 10 kills in No. 3 Lewis men's volleyball's 25-16, 26-24, 25-20 sweep of Barton on Friday (Jan. 30) evening at Neil Carey Arena.

Logan was one of six Flyers with three or more kills. He also had three blocks (one solo) as the Flyers out-blocked the Bulldogs 10.5 to 7.0.

"I thought Tom did a great job and had some great energy," Lewis head coach Dan Friend said. "It was great to see him come out and perform like that."

Lewis never trailed in the first or third sets. The Flyers used runs of 4-0 and 6-0 in the first set to take the opening frame by nine points. Freshman Gert Lisha (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) dished out two aces in the 6-0 run.

The third set was closer but back-to-back blocks put the Flyers up 16-12 and forced a Barton timeout. Lewis eventually won the set and the match on a block by Lisha and sophomore John Hodul (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg) for point 25.

The second set had the most drama. The game saw the Flyers take leads of 15-12 and 20-17 only to see Barton rally back. Behind a 5-1 push, Barton rallied to take a 22-21 advantage and force a Lewis timeout. Barton earned set point at 24-23 only to see Lewis tie the score at 24 on a kill by senior Eric Butch (Park Ridge, Ill./Maine South). A kill by Logan and a Barton hitting error followed to give the Flyers the set.

Butch totaled eight kills while Lisha dished out 31 assists and three aces. The Flyers recorded seven aces while not allowing a single ace. Senior Andy Orf (St. Charles, Mo./Christian Brothers) tied a career high with 10 digs.

Lewis improves to 7-1. Barton falls to 2-5. The Flyers return to the court on Saturday (Jan. 31) at 7 p.m. in a non-conference match with Sacred Heart.
