PDF BoxROMEOVILLE, Ill. – Lewis' five seniors recorded a combined 32 kills on Saturday (Oct. 31) afternoon as No. 21 Lewis women's volleyball swept William Jewell 25-20, 25-21, 25-21 on Senior Day in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Neil Carey Arena.
Senior
Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) had 10 kills and five digs. Senior
Kelly Brennan (Burr Ridge, Ill./Fenwick) recorded seven kills and a career-high 15 digs. Senior
Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) pitched in five kills and 12 digs. Senior
Morgan Cebula (Stevens Point, Wis./Stevens Point Area) added five kills and two blocks. Senior
Alesia Kroeker (Elkhorn, Neb./Elkhorn) totaled three kills and five blocks. All five were honored after the match in a ceremony.
"Every coach thinks they have this amazing group of seniors but this group really is special," Lewis head coach
Lorelee Smith said. "They work hard and really embody Lewis volleyball."
Lewis trailed the second set 18-16 before an 8-1 run helped give the frame to the home team. Brennan and Kroeker were serving for the majority of the push. In the third set, Lewis never trailed again after taking a 17-15 lead thanks to a 7-1 run midway through the frame.
Defensively, junior libero
Nicole Yuede (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) totaled 20 digs to help Lewis out-dig William Jewell 63-60.
The Flyers improve to 23-3 (11-2 GLVC). William Jewell falls to 7-19 (1-12 GLVC). Lewis returns to action on Friday (Nov. 6) at Quincy in a 7 p.m. first serve. The game will air online on GLVCSN.
