Lebanon, Ill. - The Lewis University men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season with a 1-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference road victory over McKendree University at Leemon Field on Sunday (Oct. 4) afternoon.
Despite it being the Flyers' first 'W', Lewis head men's soccer coach
Evan Fiffles is taking the victory in stride.
"We're just trying to get better each day and play better on both sides of the ball," Fiffles said.
With the win, Lewis improves to 1-8-1 overall and 1-6-1 in GLVC action, while the host Bearcats fall to 4-5 on the campaign and 4-4 in conference play.

Luke Comerouski (Itasca, Ill./Christian Liberty Academy) broke a scoreless tie in the 64th minute, as he took a feed from freshman
Frank Estrada (Wheeling, Ill./Wheeling) for the game-winning score.

Justin Salazar (Elburn, Ill./Hinckley Big Rock) made four saves for the Flyers to earn his second shutout of the season. McKendree netminder Scott Armstead stopped four Flyer shots.
McKendree outshot the Flyers, 16-15, while Lewis held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal.
Lewis returns to action on Friday (Oct. 9), as the Flyers welcome Southern Indiana to Lewis Stadium for a 7:30 PM kickoff.
