ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – No. 21 Lewis women's volleyball rallied for a 3-1 (20-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-16) win over Southern Indiana on Friday (Oct. 9) evening at Neil Carey Arena. The win is the Flyers' 16th consecutive victory. The Flyers are now 8-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. It is Lewis' best start in conference play since 2009 when the Flyers finished league play undefeated at 14-0.

History was made on Friday as senior Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) recorded four aces to become Lewis' rally scoring era career record holder in aces with 139. She passed Lauren Hatter's (2005-08) previous high of 136. The rally scoring era is considered 2001 to present. All-time in Lewis history, Davito ranks fourth in career aces.

"Alexis is a point scorer," Lewis head coach Lorelee Smith said.  "She scores in the font row and behind the service line. She is someone most teams have to pay attention to. When she gets on a run back there (from the service line) she is a tough one to pass on."

Davito tied the record for point 22 in set two. She then set it in grand fashion, recording an ace in the center of the court to clinch the third set 25-20. Her ace was the cap of an 8-1 Lewis run to close the set. It erased a 19-17 Southern Indiana advantage.

The fourth set was all Lewis as the Flyers grabbed a 21-9 lead. Davito added two more aces in a 6-0 run in the frame to help put the match away.

Davito finished with seven kills and five block assists in the match. Lewis was led offensively by freshman Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central)'s 14 kills. Sophomore Aly Schneider (Granger, Ind./Penn) pitched in 12 kills. Senior Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) totaled 10 kills.

The Flyers out-blocked the Screaming Eagles 13-5 and out-hit them .270 to .059.

Southern Indiana falls to 11-6 (4-4 GLVC). Lewis improves to 17-1 (8-0 GLVC). The Flyers host Bellarmine on Saturday (Oct. 10) afternoon at 3 p.m.
