PDF BoxINDIANAPOLIS - No. 23 Lewis women's volleyball out-hit Indianapolis .337 to .078 on Friday (Nov. 13) evening to sweep the Greyhounds 25-18, 25-22, 25-19 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match. The contest had only two lead changes.Senior
Alexis Davito (Crest Hill, Ill./Lockport) led Lewis with 10 kills. Freshman
Elizabeth Hyland (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield Central) added nine kills, including the set winning kill in all three sets. Senior
Cassidy Parsons (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) recorded eight kills.
The Flyers controlled the majority of the match after taking a 14-6 lead in the first set. Lewis took a timeout after UIndy advanced within two points at 24-22 in the second. Out of the break, Lewis earned a first pass kill thanks to a put down by Hyland. UIndy took a 4-0 advantage in the third set, but Lewis quickly rallied to take a 10-9 lead and eventually win the set by six points.
"It can be so much fun when every single player shows up to compete and play a full match," Lewis head coach
Lorelee Smith said. "We truly looked balanced. I am very proud."
UIndy falls to 14-16 (10-7 GLVC). Lewis improves to 26-4 (14-3 GLVC). The Flyers close the regular season on Saturday in a 3 p.m. first serve at Saint Joseph's (IN).
