Game Notes (PDF)

Romeoville, Ill. -
A berth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament quarterfinals is still alive for the Lewis University men's basketball team, as the Flyers (20-6, 12-5 GLVC) hope to ruin 'Senior Day' for No. 8 UW-Parkside (24-2, 16-1 GLVC) on Thursday (Feb. 26) night. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM at DeSimone Gymnasium.
Live stats and video streaming of Thursday's contest - provided by UW-Parkside - can be found on on www.LewisFlyers.com.

ALL-TIME SERIES - Since Lewis entered the Division II ranks, the Flyers hold a 36-27 advantage over UW-Parkside in their all-time series.

LAST TIME WE MET - Lewis shot a season-high 61% (25-for-41) from the field, but could not overcome a season-high 18 turnovers as No. 22 UW-Parkside came away with the 69-65 victory over the Flyers at Neil Carey Arena on January 19, 2015.

LAST TIME OUT - Lewis registered season-highs in points, field goals made and field goal percentage as the Flyers won their eighth-straight and 20th game overall with the 98-70 GLVC victory over McKendree on Saturday (Feb. 21) afternoon.

HOW DO WE GET TO QUARTERS? - Lewis must defeat UW-Parkside and Saint Joseph's must beat No. 16 Indianapolis.

OTHER SCENARIOS - If Lewis and Southern Indiana both win on Thursday, the Flyers will clinch the No. 5 seed due to a better GLVC East record. If Lewis loses and Southern Indiana wins on Thursday, the Screaming Eagles will get the No. 5 seed due to their victory over Bellarmine.

COMEBACK FOR THE AGES -
Lewis rallied from a 15-point second-half deficit, including being down six points with less than 20 seconds left, in their 74-73 win over William Jewell on February 5th. That is the biggest Flyer comeback since they rallied from a 16-point, first-half deficit in an 84-70 win over Alaska Anchorage on November 13, 2010.

WE SHOCKED THE WORLD - Lewis' 70-61 win over Indianapolis on January 31st was its first victory over a No. 1 ranked team since an 82-77 triumph over Southern Indiana on January 2, 2004 in Evansville. That win marks the fifth-straight season that Lewis has defeated a nationally-ranked opponent.

TOP 10 - Lewis senior guard Ryan Jackson (Bolingbrook, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) (1,692 points) is fifth in school-history in career points. He needs 62 points to pass Ron Lesiak (1990-94) for fourth place.

THE LAST TIME - Lewis guard Max Strus (Hickory Hills, Ill./Stagg) has recorded two double-doubles in his freshman campaign for the Flyers. He is the first Flyer rookie to record a double-double since his brother Marty Strus (2008-12) accomplished that feat in 2008.

WELL DONE ROOKIE - Strus has scored at least 20 points in a game four times this season. He is the first Flyer freshman to score 20 points in a game since Jackson did it in 2011-12.

TOTALLY TO THE MAX - Strus is the highest scoring (23rd, 13.2 ppg.) freshman in the GLVC.

REGIONAL RANKINGS - Lewis is No. 7 in the most recent NCAA Midwest Regional rankings announced on Wed. (Feb. 25).

WINNING WITH CLASS - Lewis' current senior class (2011) has recorded the most victories by a Scott Trost recruiting class with 77.

1,000/700 ON THE HORIZON - Senior forward Julian Lewis (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) needs 19 points to reach 1,000 for his career and become just the fourth Flyer in school history to notch at least 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in the Division II era.

MID-RANGE JUMPER? - Lewis has scored just 158 points this season that have not been either a three-point FG, a FG in the paint or a free throw. Those points amount to just 7.7 percent of the Flyers' scoring this season.

POINTS IN THE PAINT - The Flyers have a decisive advantage down low, as Lewis is averaging 37.4 points-per-game in the paint to their opponents' 21.8.

POUNDING THE GLASS -
Lewis currently holds a +5.5 rebounding margin over their opponents through 26 games this season. That would be the highest rebounding margin of any Flyer team under Trost's tenure. The previous high under Trost was +4.2 in 2007-08.

FROM WAY DOWNTOWN - Lewis has hit at least 10 three-pointers in five games this season. That's the most times the Flyers have hit at least 10 trifectas since they did it five times during the 2011-12 campaign.

POURING IN POINTS - Lewis has scored 90+ points four times this season in 26 contests. That's the most times the Flyers have reached the 90-point plateau since they did it four times during the 2005-06 campaign.

SIZEABLE VICTORIES - Lewis has had 11 victories of 20+ points or more this season, which is the most by a Flyer team during the Division II era (1980-present).

CLOSE CALLS - Lewis' six losses have been by an average of 4.8 points-per-game, including one overtime loss against No. 2 Bellarmine (Jan. 22).

FROM LONG RANGE - Sophomore guard Capel Henshaw (Harrisburg, Ill./Harrisburg) is currently third in school-history in career three-point FG%, as he has converted 44.6% (58-for-130) of his attempts.

DISHING DIMES - Jackson needs two more assists to become the first Flyer to record at least 100 assists in a season since Dennis Thomas, Jr., registered 101 in 2010-11.

SMOKIN' HOT - Lewis has won 49 of its last 63 contests dating back to the 2012-13 campaign for a winning percentage of .778.

SMOKIN' HOT (PART DEUX) - Lewis is in the midst of its second winning streak of at least seven games this season. The last time the Flyers had two seven-game winning streaks in a season was the 1985-86 team that won 25 games.

20/20 CLUB - Lewis has won at least 20 games for the second-straight season. The last time the Flyers had back-to-back 20+ wins season was from 2002-04.
