Immokalee, Fla. - The Lewis University men's tennis team remained undefeated, as the visiting Flyers claimed the 8-1 non-conference victory over Ave Maria at the AMU Tennis Facility on Monday (March 2) evening.
"It was a good day today," Lewis head men's tennis coach
Brett Bridel said. "We got some guys in that haven't played many matches so far this season, so it's good to get them some experience."
With the win, Lewis improves to 4-0 on the campaign, while the host Gyrenes drop to 0-8 on the season.
At No. 1 doubles, Lewis seniors
Armand Levandi (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) and
Erik Aunapuu (Tallinn, Estonia/Audentese Spordigumnaasiumi) teamed up for the 8-0 win over Ave Maria's Teddy Pince and Elias Zagbra. Levandi added a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Zagbra at No. 1 singles, while Aunapuu picked up the 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Rodrigo Torres at No. 2 singles.
The Flyers' No. 2 doubles team of sophomore
Mate Srdanovic (Split, Croatia/Graditeljsko-Geodetska Tehnicka) and freshman
Andre Norasith (Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) dropped Zachary Sadusky and Daniel Pardo, 8-3. Srdanovic also notched a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash of Pince at No. 3 singles, while Norasith felled Pardo, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
At No. 3 doubles, Lewis sophomore
Chris Jastrab (Kaiserslautern, Germany/Kaiserslautern) and freshman
Alan Fijalkowski (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) collected the 8-0 blanking of Alvaro Davila and Torres. Fijalkowski went on to beat Sadusky, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 at No. 5 singles.
Lewis returns to action on Wednesday (March 4) as they take on Palm Beach Atlantic. First serve is set for 5 PM ET.
